Family Sponsorship

  • Sponsor lives in QC as citizen or permanent resident
  • No criminal record
  • Not on social assistance
  • Financial support of relative
  • Eligible relatives: spouse, common-law partner, dependent child, parents, grandparents, orphaned brother/sister, nephew/niece, grandson/granddaughter; child to adopt


To sponsor a close relative you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Québec
  • Do not receive financial assistance of last resort (social assistance)
  • Have a clean criminal record
  • Have finances to support father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, a dependent child who has a child or a close relative who is a minor and an orphan

Eligible relatives: spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner, dependent child, father/mother, grandfather/grandmother, orphaned brother/sister, nephew/niece, grandson/granddaughter (under 18, and not married or common-law); and a child you plan to adopt
